Zhejiang University (ZJU) is a comprehensive national university founded in 1897. It is directly under the administration of MOE and is one of the key universities firstly listed in the "Project 211" and "Project 985".
ZJU is located in the renowned historic and cultural city, the world famous tourist attraction-Hangzhou, along the southeast coast of China. Endowed with a pleasant climate, picturesque surroundings and a favorable academic atmosphere, Zhejiang University is an ideal place for teaching, research, and learning. With five campuses, the university occupies a total area of 450.5 hectares and a floor space of over 1,948,388 square meters.
Dating from the 1912, Zhejiang University School of Medicine now includes 8 faculties, 6 Grade III Class A hospitals affiliated hospitals with 7,700 beds and 23 Grade III teaching hospitals. The total number of staff members and medical and nursing workers has reached over 10,000, including 568 full professors and associate professors, 212 doctoral mentors and 663 master mentors, and also one member of China Academy of Sciences, three members of China Academy of Engineering, five Cheung Kong Chair Professor.
The School of Medicine has 4 national key disciplines, one state key laboratory and 15 provincial and ministerial key laboratories. The discipline of Clinical Medicine ranks the 7th in China with the Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatric and Oncology as key national disciplines.
Till now, there are over 4,000 medical students including over 400 international students in MBBS program which was started from 2006 and approved by the MOE in 2007. These students mainly come from India, Pakistan, Mauritius, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Tanzania, the United States, and New Zealand etc more than 20 countries.
The School of Medicine maintains good relationship with the domestic and international famous universities. Every year, about 30 undergraduates are sent to University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California, San Francisco, (UCSF), Brown University, Kyoto University and Chinese University of Hong Kong for exchange.
ZJU is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
The syllabus of MBBS program is set according to the MOE regulation and IIME requirements. The duration of this program is 5.5 years, and is divided into two stages: Preclinical Medicine stage (3 years) and Clinical Medicine stage (2.5 years).
The main courses in preclinical medicine stage include Biochemistry, Anthroponomy, Embryology, Physiology, Pathogen Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, pathophysiology and Diagnostics etc.
The first 1.5 years of clinical medicine stage is clinical course study which includes Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Psychiatry and Epidemiology etc. In the final year, students will do clinical practice in hospitals.
According to the regulations of MOE, students also need to take Chinese Language and Chinese Culture courses to pass HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) grade 4 which is a requirement for the internship in China.
Anatomy I, Biochemistry (including Lab), Histology, embryology，Anatomy II, Medical Genetics, Physiology, Immunology, Microbiology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Forensic medicine and toxicology, Pharmacology, Biostatistics, Medical Psychology, Preventive medicine, Social medicine and ethics, Epidemiology, Medicine I, Surgery I, Preventive medicine, Medical Chinese, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Medicine II, Surgery II, Radiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medicine III, Surgery III, Pediatrics, Infectious diseases, Neurology, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Venereology, Ophthalmology, Stomatology, Emergency medicine.
The duration of internship is one year (at least 48 weeks). Students can choose to do the internship/training in China or their home country. During the internship period, students who do internship in China need to pay the tuition fee as normal RMB 42,800 per year, while those who do internship in their home country do not need to pay for it.

MBBS Degree: On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the host institution, if they meet the degree regulations of the host institution. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
Internship and Career
The internship is arranged in the final year. You can choose to do the internship/training in China or their home country.
If you want to do internship in China, you need to pass the HSK 4 to contact with the patients and the tuition fee for this year is as normal RMB 42,800 per year.
The internship will be carried out in the 6 Grade III Class A affiliated hospitals of Zhejiang University. These hospitals have a total capacity of over 7700 beds, 8780,000 emergency visits and 238,000 inpatients.
If you want to do the internship in your home country, there are no requirements on HSK level and no need to pay for the tuition fee.
And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in WHU before graduation.
After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master's degree.
Application Requirements and Materials
1. M.B.B.S. candidates must have attained, as a minimum, marks of over 70% aggregate in physics, chemistry, and biology (Zoology &Botany) at high school examinationa.
2. They must also provide a high school diploma with transcript.
3. Candidates should between 17 and 30 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission.

How to Apply
CUCAS provides two kinds of application methods for international candidates to study English medium MBBS programs at China's universities. They can choose the quick and convenient online application system or the traditional offline application route-Apply via Email.
Online Application Procedures
To complete the online application process, you need to follow the four main sections below:
1. Click 'Apply Now' button on this page and login, if didn't have the account, register first.
2. Fill out the online application form with real and correct informaiton, including personal information, education background, language proficiency, etc.

3. Upload the required application materials
Please upload photocopies of required application materials according to the university's admissions criteria.
All the materials should be MS-Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf) documents, image files (.gif, .jpg), or compression files (.rar, .zip). Each file cannot exceed 8 MB (megabytes)
4. Make payment
CUCAS offers five types of payment methods. Please carefully select your preferred payment method and to make the payment.
Students who choose Western Union or Bank transfer as their payment method need to upload the payment receipt after you wire the money at the post office or bank.
5. Submit application
Please submit your application once the application fee is confirmed by CUCAS. To submit your application, please access My CUCAS-> My Applications by logging in CUCAS, click 'Continue' at 'Application Status' column, and go to the 'Submit Application' section. You will see a big 'Submit' button. Click the button and your application will be sent directly to the university.
Once you've submitted your application, please wait 2-4 weeks for the university to process your application. Once the university has made a decision, CUCAS will notify you by email. You can also track your application status by logging into your CUCAS account.
Offline Application Procedures
The steps for 'Apply via Email' are as follows:
1. Choose a MBBS program；
2. Click “Apply via Email” to download the fillable application form and documents;
3. Open forms in MS Word and fill in required information electronically, please make sure the information is accurate and correct to receive your JW 202 form;
4. Send us the completed form and other required application materials;
5. Pay the Application Fee and CUCAS Processing Fee, keep the receipt;
6. Send us the copy of receipt, and the school will process your application once receiving your bank receipt;
7. Check your application process via email periodically, and track with your admission status;
8. Wait for your admission notice from CUCAS within 5 workdays, and the JW 202 form will send to you in 2-6 weeks;
